Responsible AI & Fair Use Policy
EnterpriseLast Updated: December 2, 2025
Sports AI Nation is committed to the responsible, ethical, and fair use of artificial intelligence in high school athletics. This policy outlines our principles, practices, and commitments regarding AI-powered features within our platform.
1. Our AI Principles
Transparency
We are transparent about when and how AI is used. Users can identify AI-generated content and understand the factors that influence automated recommendations.
Fairness
Our AI systems are designed and tested to minimize bias. We actively work to ensure evaluations and recommendations do not unfairly disadvantage any athlete based on protected characteristics.
Human Oversight
AI is a tool to support — not replace — human decision-making. Coaches and administrators always have final authority over player evaluations, lineup decisions, and program management.
Privacy
AI processing respects student privacy. We do not use student data to train general-purpose AI models. Analytics are generated within the organization's private instance.
2. AI-Powered Features
Sports AI Nation uses AI and machine learning in the following areas:
- Performance Analytics: Statistical analysis of game and practice data to identify trends and improvement opportunities
- Scouting Reports: Automated summaries of opponent tendencies based on film and statistical data
- Highlight Generation: Automated identification of key plays for film review
- Scheduling Optimization: Recommendations for practice and game scheduling
- Communication Assistance: Suggested messaging templates for parent and team communication
3. Fairness in Athletic Evaluation
We are committed to ensuring AI does not introduce or amplify bias in athletic evaluation:
3.1 No Discriminatory Factors
Our AI systems do not use the following as inputs or factors in player evaluation:
- Race, ethnicity, or national origin
- Gender or gender identity
- Socioeconomic status or school district funding
- Religious affiliation
- Disability status (except where relevant to accommodation)
3.2 Position and Skill Neutral
Performance metrics are evaluated relative to position and role. Linemen are not compared to quarterbacks; goalkeepers are not compared to strikers. Each athlete is evaluated in their context.
3.3 Development Over Ranking
Our analytics emphasize individual development and improvement over time, rather than purely comparative ranking systems that may disadvantage late developers or those with less prior experience.
4. Data Usage in AI
4.1 Organization-Specific Processing
AI analytics are generated using only the data within your organization's account. We do not pool data across organizations to train AI models or generate insights.
4.2 No Third-Party AI Training
Student data and athletic performance information are not shared with third-party AI providers for model training purposes. When we use cloud AI services (such as AWS Bedrock), data is processed in accordance with our Data Processing Addendum and is not retained by the provider for training.
4.3 Anonymization for Improvement
We may use aggregated, anonymized data to improve our algorithms and platform features. This data cannot be traced back to individual athletes, schools, or organizations.
5. Human Decision Authority
Sports AI Nation firmly believes that:
- AI should inform, not determine, coaching decisions
- Lineup, playing time, and recruiting decisions remain the sole authority of human coaches and administrators
- AI-generated recommendations should be reviewed with professional judgment
- Athletes and families have the right to understand how AI influences evaluations (upon request)
Important
Sports AI Nation does not make roster decisions, eligibility determinations, or playing time allocations. These remain the responsibility of coaches and athletic administrators.
6. Bias Testing and Monitoring
We maintain ongoing efforts to identify and address bias:
- Regular algorithmic audits to identify potential disparate outcomes
- Diverse testing datasets during development
- Feedback mechanisms for users to report concerns
- Annual review of AI systems by internal ethics committee
7. Compliance with Athletic Associations
We design our AI features to comply with rules and guidelines from:
- State athletic associations (e.g., MHSAA, UIL, CIF, OHSAA)
- NCAA and NAIA regarding recruiting contact and evaluation
- National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS)
If you have specific compliance requirements from your state association, please contact us to discuss how our AI features align with those rules.
8. Requesting AI Explanations
Athletes, parents, and coaches may request explanations of AI-generated insights or recommendations. To request an explanation:
- Contact your organization's platform administrator
- Specify the feature or recommendation in question
- We will provide a clear explanation of the factors and data that influenced the output
9. Opting Out of AI Features
Organizations may choose to disable certain AI features if they prefer not to use automated analysis. Contact your account representative or support to configure AI feature availability.
10. Policy Updates
As AI technology evolves, this policy will be updated to reflect new capabilities and best practices. Material changes will be communicated to all users.
